William,

"The DBA is working very hard on improving its web site ..."

Thanks for the update on the DBA website, although, I must assure you, I will likely never visit it. Here's why...

Websites are pretty much obsolete. Even Toyota ads on TV and radio don't send prospects or customers to toyota.com. Instead, they send them to Facebook where they can meet other customers and learn about their products in conversation.

Websites have proven to be of little value in the last three years; typically it's just a brochure on the web and a single page generally suffices because the single most cause for visiting a web site in 2009 was to get contact information. Take sime time to search Google looking for "Single Page Websites" - you'll likely be surprised to see how many companies and associations are leaving the traditional definition of a website and leveraging services that meet customer needs far better than a brochure.

Associations (even more so than businesses) waste precious resources building (and rebuilding) websites that are rarely used, create minimal traffic, and typically don't serve the needs of the constituents.

With the advent of Web 2.0 services, you don't need a website to command attention or to organize a community. In fact, a website can actually work against your objectives by fracturing your brand equity and creating turbulence in your market.

Just sayin...

The DBA is working very hard on improving its web site and will be launching its much improved site within the next few days.

The Dillon Festival of Lights is just around the corner beginning with the Lighting of Dillon on December 2nd and continuing through January 16th.

Santa will be accepting letters for the North Pole on December 3rd and 4th. Look for him by the big tree in front of Pug Ryan's just accros the street from teh Post Office. The Mountain Majesty Chorus will be singing carols while Santa entertains the kids.

There are contests for best lit business and best lit residence, so get involved and be creative in "lighting up" Dillon.

We are also planning a Volunteer Day to help businesses and property owners along Lake Dillon Drive light up. Saty posted for more information on the date and location to meet.

The Dillon Business Association is working hard to make the event a success. The Town of Dillon has been a great partner in providing assistance as well. The Lights can increase customer traffic during the winter months, and make this a destination event, that will grow in years to come.

See the DBA web site for more information.
